On the move!

The last couple of months have been very busy with interior finishings, looking for a parking space, setting up insurance and sorting the logistics of moving our tiny house - but we did it! It was all a big success and we breathed a sigh of relief as we toasted our accomplishment, excited about starting this new chapter in our lives.

And by time we got back from work the next day we were told that we would have to leave. The wonderful couple who offered us a space for our home were called up by their angry neighbour and so we must move on; such is the life of a tiny houser.

We're now looking for a new parking space ASAP so please scroll down to the bottom for details.

Thanks Ray Hudson for the great travelling photos!

At least now we know how to move our house. The place took to the road like a pro as we snaked along the highway in a 4-car convoy. All of our parents came out to support us on this exciting day and we're so greatful, I think I barely took a breath the whole ride. But we made it and doing it again doesn't seem so daunting.

We haven't moved all of our stuff in as we still have a few bits and pieces in the inside to finish off but check out how far we've come! Apologies for some of the low quality pictures.

View from living room to kitchen...

Kitchen! A little snug with the fridge nestled in...

Bathroom

The cabinet next to the toilet holds the sawdust/fodder for composting.

Storage stairs! There is a closet for hanging clothes inside the doors. The whole unit still needs its final coat of varathane.

Living room with folding maple table- sofa cushions to come.

Office/book nook and direct vent space heater.

Master sleeping loft. Sooo cozy when the rain hits the roof.

Wanted:

a new space to park our tiny house!

We're looking for a new spot to park our tiny house that has:

- an electrical hook-up for electricity (preferrably 20 amp but can do 15 amp)

- a water connection where we can attach our potable water hose

- wi-fi: one of us often works from home so wifi or some sort of internet connection is useful. We currently have a booster that does a great job of focusing a wi-fi signal.

No sewage hook-up necessary as we have a composting toilet.

We are fully insured as a park model mobile home.

Ideally, we'd love some garden space to plant some veggies and somewhere to park our vehicle (street parking is fine).

We're looking to pay about $400 a month but we're also open to helping out around a place or performing duties to earn our keep.

As we both work in the city we're looking mainly in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster, Coquitlam, North Vancouver and West Vancouver. But we're open to suggestions!

If you know someone with some space on their property who wants some extra cash, who is interested in tiny houses or just wants people around to keep an eye on things while they're away please pass this along! We can be reached through our contact page or email: ldawgnroar@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Laura & Rory
